Support Kodah's Fight Against Rare Cancer
Donation protected
Hi all, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read about Kodah's story.
My name is Anne Quimque and I am raising funds for Rose and Tony Paz's family. Rose is like a sister to me and Tony has been my brother's best friend for many years. They have 3 younger boys at home in IL. The boys also have an older brother who lives in NJ.
Recently, their youngest, Kodah (5 years old), was diagnosed with a form of neuroblastoma cancer, ganglioneuroblastoma, which is a very rare cancer. In simple terms, he has a tumor in his belly that is made up of malignant and benign tumor cells that needs to be removed and will then undergo treatments. They are going through difficult times. Not only just dealing with the emotional toll of their youngest having cancer, but also seeking where they should have his surgery and treatment done, how to maintain life for their other two young boys at home, taking all the time off needed and not having paid time off, maintaining medical insurance and money needed to cover everything with this awful cancer journey.
I understand that everyone does not have the ability to donate, but prayers for Kodah would be greatly appreciated! ❤️
All of the proceeds will go to Rose and Tony Paz to support them during Kodah's cancer journey. Any extra funds will be donated to support pediatric cancer research.
To read more about little Kodah's story from his mommy, Rose's heartfelt IG post (@itsmayorrose) which tells you so much more...
In January, Kodah turned 5. This was the first year we’ve been able to celebrate with family and he had the best birthday ever. A short time after during the first week of February, he had his 5 year old check up. Kodah’s been pretty healthy so we thought this would be a pretty routine checkup…. Until it wasn’t.
The doctor felt a mass on the right side of his abdomen and I brought up the fact that he suffers from constipation here and there, but we were immediately sent for a stat ultrasound. By 5pm that night, the doctor had called and confirmed it was indeed a mass- a large mass. A call was placed to Luries Children’s Hospital and by the next morning I was heading down to the ED with Kodah for further work up. He had a CT which confirmed the mass, labs, and a urine test. Neuroblastoma and Teratoma were being brought up and while I was scared for Kodah- the only thing that bothered him was that he was starving… my Bear loves to eat so not eating for 8 hours was a big deal but something he dealt with like a champ. They kept him nothing by mouth “just in case.” That night we were admitted and Kodah was scheduled for a biopsy the next day. As scared as we were for Kodah to be put under anesthesia, he went back to the OR like a big boy- Kodah handled the biopsy well and we were sent home that night to wait for our results.
Fast forward to the following Tuesday- on a call with Kodah’s hem/onc doctor and surgeon we were told that Kodah has a form of #neuroblastoma called #ganglioneuroblastoma. While not as aggressive as #neuroblastoma, still cancer. My baby has cancer
Ganglioneuroblastoma is a rare cancer that affects less than 5 kids per million. It is made up of both benign and malignant cells. Treatment includes surgery which Kodah will be having surgery in the near future to remove the mass.
I never thought this would happen to my family. Cancer does not care who you are. 1 in 235 kids will have cancer before the age of 18. 1 in 235!! That blows my mind.
Please, please keep Kodah and our family in your prayers while we weather through the storm and all the unknowns. #onestepatatime #pediatriccancerawareness #childhoodcancer #morethan4 ️️️️️️️️️️️️
