Hello Friends.
If you’ve ever loved a dog like family, you’ll understand why this is so hard to write.
Koda is a husky who is silly and playful and means everything to his family. He’s been by their side through life’s ups and downs—the best adventure buddy, the most loyal friend. But out of nowhere, Koda’s back legs gave out, and within a day, he could barely move.
He was rushed to a local emergency vet where they diagnosed him with IVDD. IVDD (Intervertebral disc disease) is when the intervertebral discs herniate into the spinal cord, causing disruption of signals from the brain through the cord. This causes pain, loss of limb function, and paralysis.
Koda is currently undergoing the long road to recovery and his owners are fully dedicated to getting him there (When Brandon heard Koda was not OK, he was in another state, dropped everything and drove 8 hours straight overnight to be with him). Currently recovery is full time care, steroid and medication management, and within the next month rehab/physical therapy consisting of laser therapy, aquatic therapy, exercise, and more. The vets believe with this course of treatment he has a 70-80% chance of regaining function of his currently paralyzed legs.
His owners are doing everything they can, but the reality is—they just don’t have the funds for this. And no one should have to decide between their dog’s life and what’s in their bank account.
If you can help, in any way, it would mean the world. Every donation gets them closer to Koda walking and living a full life again. And if you can’t donate, please share—someone else might be able to.
Koda isn’t ready to give up, and neither are we. Let’s get him the help he needs.
Thank you from Koda and his family.
