Our family is asking for some help to cover some unexpected emergency medical needs for our 6-year-old golden doodle, Kobe.
Without any warning on Saturday evening, he started urinating blood and random bruising all over his body. We were forced to take him to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Buffalo because Rochester facilities couldn’t accommodate his problem.
After 10 hours and multiple tests, it was determined to be thrombocytopenia, which is his body attacking his platelets. A normal platelet count of 50,000 was zero. It was really touch and go for a few hours, but he pulled through.
We are asking for donations to help offset the emergency visit Saturday, his now daily trips to a local vet for blood checks, and new medications he will need for the rest of his life. Anything collected and not used for his treatment will be donated to a local shelter.
