Koa is my 5-year-old yellow lab, and a few days ago, she was diagnosed with oral melanoma, an aggressive form of cancer. Despite her diagnosis, she’s still full of life—she spends her days swimming, chasing tennis balls, playing with her sister Evie (our 5-year-old Boxer mix), and keeping a close watch on the neighborhood squirrels.

I got Koa right after college and she has been my rock through some of the most important and difficult moments of my life. I can’t imagine losing her any time soon.
