Help Klavdiya Fight Glioblastoma
On October 10th, our family was celebrating one of the happiest days we could imagine. Klavdiya had driven to Santa Clara on her own to watch her daughter Olena marry the love of her life. She was glowing with so much happiness that day.
The next morning, on October 11th, she made the long drive back home to Agoura Hills and mentioned feeling a little “off.” In her usual way, she tried not to worry anyone. Over the next few days, small signs continued. On October 17th, her husband Jeffrey noticed a droop on her face and took her straight to Los Robles Hospital.
An MRI revealed news no family is ever ready for. Doctors found a large tumor, 7.8 x 4.4 x 4.2 cm, on the right frontal side of her brain. The diagnosis was Grade 4 Glioblastoma. Everything changed in an instant.
We were fortunate to meet Dr. Benet and his wonderful team, who acted quickly. On November 22nd, Klavdiya underwent major brain surgery and about 90 percent of the tumor was removed. Her strength throughout this has been remarkable. She now begins chemotherapy and radiation with UCLA Oncology on December 1st.
Who Klavdiya Is
Klavdiya immigrated from Ukraine to give her daughter a better life. For more than ten years she worked at Agoura Advanced Dentistry, where Dr. Kam has always looked after her with genuine kindness. Our family deeply appreciates the support, respect, and care he has shown her over the years and continues to show during this difficult time.
At home, she is a creative soul who loves painting, cooking, gardening, and crafting. She has worked tirelessly her entire life and has always been the one caring for others. She is a devoted wife to Jeffrey and a loving mother to Olena and an amazing mother-figure to Alex. Here in the United States, they are her entire immediate family.
This diagnosis has taken away her ability to work and has placed an enormous strain on daily life. Jeffrey has become her full-time caregiver, and although he does so with all the love in his heart, it is incredibly difficult physically and emotionally.
Alex and I are also doing everything we can to support her, and we are trying our best to navigate the challenges that the long distance creates. While we try to stay as involved as possible, it has been very difficult not to be by her side as much as we would like to and we appreciate all the help everyone has been providing.
Our Community of Support
We are profoundly grateful for the kindness shown by friends, neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones. From helping bring her car home during that frightening week, to delivering food, offering companionship, checking in, and providing caregiving help, these acts of generosity have lifted our family in ways we cannot fully express. Every gesture has mattered, and we appreciate each and every one of you.
Why We Are Asking for Help
Glioblastoma is aggressive and treatment is long, overwhelming, and extremely expensive. Since Klavdiya can no longer work, the financial pressure is even heavier. As her family, we want to ensure she receives the best care and comfort possible through every step of this fight.
Funds will help cover medical expenses, caregiving support, transportation, medications, home needs, and anything required to keep her safe and cared for.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, means more to us than we can put into words. Even sharing her story or keeping her in your thoughts is a tremendous gift.
From our entire family, thank you for standing with us during the hardest chapter of our lives. Your kindness gives us strength and hope.
