Hi, my name is KK, and I’m from the island of Guam. I left home in 2022 to follow my dream of playing college rugby and earning a degree, but I haven’t been able to return to Guam since.

Leaving the island was one of the biggest steps I’ve ever taken. While I’m proud of everything I’ve worked for, being away from my family, culture, and the place I call home has been incredibly difficult. I’ve missed birthdays, holidays, and everyday island moments that mean the world to me.

Guam isn’t just where I’m from, it’s a huge part of who I am. The strength and determination I bring into every class and on the rugby field come from the love and values I grew up with back home.

I’m set to graduate in 2026, and I’m working hard to make that dream a reality. But what I’m really hoping for is the chance to go back home next summer, to reunite with my loved ones and finally be on the island again after years away.
