Support Kj & Corey’s Recovery Journey

On what was supposed to be a normal trip to Alabama, our world got flipped upside down. My 5-year-old son, Kj, and his dad, Corey, were traveling when their car’s transmission failed in Atlanta, Georgia. Stranded and needing help, they called for a tow truck—but what happened was a nightmare we could never imagined.

As the tow truck driver began unloading their car off the wrecker, he failed to secure it properly. When he lifted the bed, the car rolled off—its wheels locked in one direction, heading straight toward Kj, who was standing safely nearby on the sidewalk. In a moment of pure instinct and love, Corey raced to shield our son, tackling him just as the car came barreling down a 75 ft hill on the back side of the hotel parking lot.

The impact was devastating. Kj suffered a broken femur, requiring rods to be placed in his leg, along with an abdomen puncture and multiple pelvic fractures. Corey, who risked everything to protect our son, sustained a fractured spine, two major artery repairs on his skull, dislocated left shoulder, muscle torn in right forearm, deep lacerations on both sides of his face, and a total of 27 stitches.

Kj now faces a long road to recovery, including months of physical therapy and another surgery in 6-8 months to remove the rods from his leg.

We are reaching out to ask for help. Between medical bills, travel expenses, Corey unable to work due to his injuries and the uncertainty of when they’ll even get their car back or repaired, this has put an unimaginable financial strain on our family. Our top priority is getting Kj and Corey the care they need so they can heal from this traumatic accident.
