Support KJ and Mary’s recovery after accident
Donation protected
Dear friends and compassionate community,
The Jennische family has been thrust into a crisis none of us anticipated. During KJ’s hunting trip to Colorado with his grandsons, Sean Griffin and James Burgess along with KJ’s son-in-law, Rick Hoogendorn, KJ suffered a life-altering accident. He took a fall down a flight of stairs, and his grandson found him unconscious. Our dad was swiftly life-flighted to a level-one trauma center in Denver, where we received the heartbreaking news of spinal fractures, a wrist fracture, and a traumatic brain injury.
For over 20 days, Dad fought bravely in the trauma center before being life-flighted back home to Texas, where he currently is receiving care in a rehabilitation hospital. Although he is making progress, he must wear a neck and back brace to support his fractured spine for the next four months, necessitating 24/7 supervision to prevent further injury.
In tandem, Mom is on her own path to recovery from two back surgeries to repair her fractured spine after a traumatic fall. The complexities of their health demand constant care. As registered nurses and devoted daughters, Karen and I are committed to providing nighttime care for our parents, but the astronomical cost of hiring care-givers during the day is a financial strain beyond our means.
In this challenging time, we turn to you, our community, for support through this GoFundMe campaign. Your generosity will directly impact our parents' well-being, aiding in their journey towards recovery. We are grateful for any contribution, big or small, as it brings us one step closer to easing the burdens our family bears. We deeply appreciate those that have already reached out to us and offered your support and prayer. We thank you for standing with us during this trying period. We couldn’t imagine getting through this without the love and support from our family, church family, friends and community. We humble ourselves in this prayerful request.
