Support Kitt Monroe in Her Cancer Battle

Hello everyone, my name is Ray Wootton. I've started a GoFundMe for my Mom. I will be providing updates on how her chemo/radiation is going as we go through the next few months. She wanted to let everyone know what is going on and why we decided to do this in her own words:
In October of 2024, I had a tooth pulled that resulted in a bad infection in my jaw. This led to an infection in my throat, for which the dentist's office kept prescribing me antibiotics to help with the infection. I got pneumonia and went to my family doctor. When I went, I found out my doctor retired. His office remained open with nurse practitioners running it. They prescribed me an antibiotic and an oral mouth rinse to help with the infection. Around the middle of February 2025, I started losing my voice. The doctors think it's because I was sick so much. My son came down in March and immediately knew something bad was going on with me.
In early April, I was rushed to the hospital in Athens because I couldn't breathe. I was sedated on a ventilator for about 3 weeks. When I woke up finally from all the meds, they ran tests to see what was going on. I have a 5mm mass blocking my trachea. Because of this cancer (Squamous, Type 2), I cannot talk. I had a tracheotomy done in May to allow me to breathe with an oxygen tank/concentrator. Also, they found a mass the size of a cantaloupe on my cervix.
Chemo this coming up Wednesday, July 9, with hope that the oncologist can reduce the mass down to be able to operate and remove it safely. Unfortunately, I am unable to work because of this. My son did apply for benefits through Medicare & Disability, but that takes a little bit to get approved. Right now, I am surviving on Social Security alone. I will turn 63 in September, so we applied for Early Medical Disability due to my diagnosis. I am going to fight this but will need all the help I can get. I'm putting this in God's hands to help me with His grace to get me well enough to live a somewhat normal life again. I'm beyond blessed with the people that have been helping out the past few months. Thanks for anything and everything.
