Support Kirsty’s Recovery After Brain Tumour Surgery
Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Kirsty, I am a 27-year-old teacher recently out of work and recovering due to brain surgery.
On March 29th my doctor referred me to get a CT scan after experiencing a series of severe headaches. After my CT scan on April 4th, I received urgent phone calls and was admitted to hospital under the care of the neurosurgeon and neurosurgery team.
Upon further scans and review, I was diagnosed with an Olfactory Groove Meningioma with oedema (swelling in the brain), mass effect and midline shift and needed immediate surgery. This is a rare tumour that grows on part of the brain near the nose and has been growing for at least 5 years.
On April 9th, I underwent a successful right craniotomy and resection of the tumour.
I now face a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally. Currently, I am in the post-surgery 6-week recovery period, however, full recovery can be expected to take months. I am also unable to work or drive for up to 6 months.
I am reaching out to ask for your support during this incredibly challenging time. Your donations will go directly towards covering my medical bills, non-refundable travel costs due to a cancelled month-long trip to Europe and unpaid leave from work.
Every contribution is greatly appreciated, please consider donating and/or sharing this page to help me reach anyone who may be able to help.
Thank you for your support.
