Kirstie Marx has been my dearest friend for nearly 30 years. Many know her as an award-winning tennis coach, mentor, encourager, and servant leader who has spent decades investing in the lives of others. Whether on the tennis court, in her church, or in the community, Kirstie has always been the first person to show up when someone needed help.

Three years ago, Kirstie was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, often called the "suicide disease" because of the severe, debilitating pain it causes. Despite daily pain, Kirstie continued doing what she loves most—teaching tennis, mentoring others, and serving her community with grace and faith.

After undergoing brain surgery in 2022, she experienced temporary relief. Unfortunately, her body has rejected the Teflon implant that was placed between her artery and trigeminal nerve, and she now requires a second brain surgery at Duke University Hospital on July 29.

Recovery is expected to keep Kirstie off the tennis courts for at least three months. As an independent contractor, she will have no income during that time. Her husband, Rich, will also be taking unpaid Family Medical Leave to care for her.

The funds raised will help the Marx family cover medical bills, offset the loss of income, and assist with the many expenses that come with surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation.

Those who know Rich and Kirstie have seen their financial, spiritual, and emotional generosity over the decades. Today, we have the opportunity to come alongside them. Any gift, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus on healing and recovery.
