Hi, my name is Kirsten, and I’m preparing to apply to medical school with the goal of starting in Fall 2027. While I’m still exploring which specialty to pursue, I’m especially drawn to pediatrics and neurology, and I want to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.
Applying to medical school is expensive. Between the primary AMCAS application, secondary applications, and travel for interviews, applying to 30–40 schools can cost thousands of dollars.
Although I work hard to support myself, it’s difficult to save enough to cover all the costs . I looked into AAMC Fee Assistance Program (FAP), but because my income technically exceeds the eligibility threshold, I don’t qualify. What the requirements for FAP don’t consider is the salary to debt ratio. I live in an apartment with my husband as a young married couple, and with significant bills and debt, we are struggling to save for applications.
I’m seeking support to help cover:
Primary application fees (~$1,500–$2,000)
Secondary application fees (~$80–$120 per school)
Travel for interviews (flights, hotels, transportation)
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a huge difference in helping me take this next step toward becoming a physician. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me on this journey.
With gratitude,
Kirsten Seck
