My mom, Kirsten Perkins, is only 49 years old and has been through so much. Kirsten is the kindest, most empathetic person that I know. She always puts others before herself and now it is time for us to support her. She is going through a battle right now and needs your support. The last several weeks have taken a real toll on my family. What started off as a possible ear infection has turned into the worst month of our lives. She has had countless steroids, MRIs, spinal taps, blood draws, etc. Eventually, because of the pain, nausea, etc. she couldn’t eat and became severely malnourished. She had lost over 30 pounds in a month. A few days after Christmas, she went in for a spinal tap and has not left the hospital since. She is not able to walk, eat, drink, or do anything on her own. She currently has a feeding tube placed in her stomach for nutrition and steroids flooding her body to mask the real problem. My dad has been her number one supporter and has barely left her side since this started. We have no real answers, but the neurologists think there is a possibility that her breast cancer has spread to her brain.
