This GoFundMe is being created by members of the Mesa community who believe in fairness, integrity, and standing up for those who have given their lives in service to others.
We are writing as friends, colleagues, parents, and supporters of the Thomas and Klecka families — families who have given more to Mesa Public Schools than most people will ever truly understand.
For more than 30 years, Kirk Thomas and David Klecka dedicated their careers to students, staff, and families across Mesa. Kirk spent the last decade as principal of Mesa High School, leading with compassion, strength, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right — even when it came at personal cost.
In February 2025, a student incident occurred and was addressed at the time. No criminal charges were filed. The matter was considered resolved. Nearly a year later, however, the District reopened the situation and ultimately chose to non-renew both Kirk and David’s contracts — without providing them a fair and meaningful opportunity to fully defend their names.
These are not men with disciplinary histories. These are leaders with decades of unblemished service, countless lives impacted, and reputations built on trust.
As a community, watching this happen to them has been heartbreaking.
We know the sacrifices they made — the long nights, the weekends, the time away from their families — all in service to a community they loved. To see their careers reduced to silence, speculation, and unanswered questions has been devastating.
This fundraiser exists because the Mesa community believes they deserve the chance to seek truth, fairness, and accountability. The funds will help the Thomas and Klecka families cover attorney fees so they can pursue that opportunity.
They are not asking for sympathy.
They are asking for the chance to be heard.
If you believe in due process, integrity, and standing with educators who gave everything they had to Mesa, we invite you to stand with them now.
Even sharing this message matters.
Kirk Thomas and David Klecka gave Mesa their hearts.
Now, as a community, we give our support back to them.
Thank you for standing with them.
