Support Kiri's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Kiri is a 6-year-old pit mix who loves hiking, playing with her friends at the dog park, and snuggling with her people. Early March 2025 she had an accident while out in the yard - her line got tangled in the brush at the edge of our property and when she tried to get loose, she caused a tear under her right armpit from a stick in the brush. She was rushed to Cornell University's emergency vet and underwent surgery to close the wound and has been healing ever since.
Within the last few weeks, she's been showing signs of pain near the injury, and this pain started to radiate to her back legs. Kiri is currently back at Cornell, where the vets suspect she has a spinal infection due to the previous injury back in March. This is common in dogs, and it can take a long time for symptoms to present (which lines up with what we're seeing). She's undergoing MRI and potentially a CT scan to determine the sources of her pain, and the proposed cost of that is $10,000.
Although we're doing everything we can to handle this financially, I (Kiri's mom) underwent a spinal surgery last summer that used up all our savings, and we've yet to recover. The goal is to have Kiri's care covered entirely if possible, but every little bit will help us ensure she can get high-quality care and have the best chance at a longer healthy and happy life.
Anyone who knows us knows that we love Kiri with our whole heart and soul. She's our family, and we promised her a good life when we rescued her from the shelter. We appreciate your support and good wishes for her recovery, she's got kitties and puppy friends back home who will miss her terribly.
Thank you so much for your love and support ♡
