Kiran Teja Tokala is a 31-year-old Masters student living in Tampa, and he is one of the happiest, kindest, and most positive people I know. His life took an unexpected and devastating turn when he was diagnosed with end-stage renal kidney failure caused by an autoimmune condition called Iga Nephropathy. Until this diagnosis, Kiran had no previous health problems and was always full of energy and optimism, bringing joy to everyone around him. What began as a health concern has now turned into a daily fight for survival, requiring ongoing dialysis treatments and constant medical care.
Recently, Kiran spent three weeks hospitalized in the ICU, and after a Kidney Biopsy doctors have confirmed that he needs a kidney transplant to regain his normal life. Until a transplant is possible, he must undergo mandatory dialysis three days a week. Unfortunately, his insurance does not cover dialysis treatments and hospital bills, he is forced to rely on emergency room visits for care, where he often has to wait at least twelve hours before he can even begin dialysis. The treatments are exhausting and expensive, and the financial burden is overwhelming, especially for a student far from home. Kiran is fighting this battle alone in the US, with his parents deeply worried back in India.
Despite everything, Kiran remains hopeful and continues to inspire those around him with his resilience and positive spirit, but he cannot do this alone.
We are raising funds to help ease the financial strain of medical bills, dialysis treatments, medications, and associated living expenses. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward supporting his care and giving him the chance to focus on healing rather than worrying about how to afford the next treatment.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this message with your network means just as much. Spreading awareness can make a powerful difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time. Your compassion reminds us that even in the darkest moments, we are never truly alone.
Thank you so much for helping Kiran face his toughest battle yet.
