On April 19, Kip was working on his pickup with Deacon when a tragic accident occurred. The vehicle rolled and dragged him approximately 10 feet underneath it.

Kip suffered severe injuries, including a collapsed lung, a broken C4 vertebra in his neck, a broken collarbone, a broken sternum, multiple broken ribs (1–6 on the left side and 1–3 on the right), and a concussion. He also has staples in the back of his head, stitches in his lip, and currently has a chest tube to drain internal bleeding.

He will be in the ICU for several days as doctors work to stabilize him and begin the long road to recovery.
