KIPP San Francisco College Preparatory High School

Hi, my name is Coach Shay and I am the head coach for KIPP San Francisco College Preparatory High School Boys Varsity Basketball team.

We are a small, diverse public school in an underserved San Francisco community. KIPP is known for its excellent teachers and strong academic support that prepare students for college, careers, and beyond. Extracurricular funds for sports are very limited in public schools and do not cover the cost of travel or equipment.

KIPP's Boys Varsity Basketball team has made it to the high school playoffs three times with just six or seven players, and we work hard on and off the court, making sure education is the priority. This year is the senior year for our entire team, with the exception of one junior. This will be the first time that any KIPP sports team has traveled outside of the San Francisco Bay Area for a sports competition.

We are raising funds to allow the kids to compete with nationwide teams at the Kaylee Scholarship Association (KSA) in Orlando, Florida. KSA is the nation’s leading organizer of high school sporting events. This once-in-a-lifetime experience unites teams from all 50 states for elite competitions. It will also give them exposure and the opportunity to showcase their skills on the court for coaches and college recruiters.

My group of kids is very hardworking and dedicated to excellence and success. Despite sometimes challenging circumstances, they always beat the odds and persevere. Your donations will help us with room and board, flights, and meals, etc... anything helps.
