I’m organizing this on behalf of someone who means so much to me—a close friend whose world has been turned upside down in just a matter of days.
This past Saturday, we all spent the day together at the lake. What started as a beautiful, ordinary day quickly became something none of us could’ve imagined. Her little girl, Kinsley, began to seem off—tired, not herself. We assumed it might just be dehydration from the heat, so they headed home to rest and recover.
But her mama—Harley—knew something wasn’t right. She kept trusting her instincts, taking Kinsley to the ER and following up with their primary doctor when things didn’t improve. Despite being reassured multiple times, Harley kept pushing for answers.
Yesterday, desperate for help and still without clear answers, Harley took Kinsley to Mountain After Hours, where they finally re-ran her labs. What they found changed everything. Her levels were dangerously off, and she was immediately rushed to the ICU at the UK Children’s Center.
It was there that Kinsley was diagnosed with HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome)—a rare but serious illness that is now causing acute kidney failure. On top of that, she’s also battling severe anemia, which required an emergency blood transfusion to stabilize her.
Today, our sweet Kinsley had to be placed under sedation so she could begin dialysis—a process that doctors say she may need to remain under for the next 2 to 3 days.
No parent should ever have to face this kind of fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak. Harley has stayed by her daughter’s side every second, navigating a nightmare no one ever expects to live through.
We’re asking for your prayers, your support, and any help you can offer. This will be a long road to recovery for Kinsley and her family—physically, emotionally, and financially. Anything you can give—whether it’s a donation, a kind word, or simply sharing their story—means the world right now.
Let’s rally around this little girl and her incredible mama. Let’s show them they’re not alone.
