On April 30, three-year-old King was shot multiple times in a random act of violence in his Washington neighborhood. He was playing outside in broad daylight when he was struck three times by bullets from a drive-by shooting. Thanks to a quick-thinking bystander, King survived and is expected to make a full recovery. But he faces a long hospitalization, multiple surgeries, and will bear the mental and physical costs of this tragedy for many years. His medical bills are already immense and his family is struggling.

King is a sweet and wonderful little boy and his community is devastated by what has happened to him. We put together this fundraiser to help King’s family with medical costs, to lessen the immediate financial burden of this major disruption to their lives, and to ensure he will be able to access all the  physical, mental, and emotional support he will need in recovery.

 This is an overwhelmingly difficult situation and any amount helps. No one should have to go through this, much less before his fourth birthday. Sadly, stories of families destroyed by gun violence are becoming all too familiar. King is being such a trooper and deserves all the love and support in the world.
