Every move matters.
Hello! I’m Danell Perdomo, Producer for this upcoming short film, KING OF GAMES, written and directed by Elijah Malcolm Henry.
From the Director:
KING OF GAMES is about exploring the similarities between two different people. One who believes in freedom, moving forward, and one who is stuck, values safety, and fears change. How a simple interest pulls them together, and how it changes who they are as people. Because of this, the film is intimate between the two leads. My work explores memories, and this story acts as a memory as time marches forward. How time forces change and as we change, we look back on time we can't get back as something precious.
Why I’m Making This Film:
The idea for this film came from watching my grandpa and uncles playing dominoes at family events. Watching people who haven’t spoken to each other bond over a game and learn more about each other.
Many of my family friends are people my relatives played dominoes with at family gatherings and kickbacks. The idea comes from my own experiences as well. Playing games like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Street Fighter with my friends when I was younger. Those nostalgic moments felt like time stood still, and nothing else mattered. I always find myself reflecting on those moments and how much I cherish them, especially when it feels like those moments cannot be recreated again with those same people currently.
