Rochelle, a New York City native, and her husband Bill, a lifelong Humboldt County resident, are the proud owners of Kinfolk Beauty Supply, a Black-owned beauty supply store in Eureka, California. Since opening their doors, they've worked hard to create more than just a business, they've built a welcoming space where people can find the products they need while feeling seen, valued, and supported.

Recently, Rochelle and Bill experienced a devastating financial loss when their business bank account was emptied due to debit card fraud. The money stolen represented the cash they work hard for to keep the store operating. Although an investigation is underway, it could take weeks or even months before any funds are recovered.

Without access to these funds, they are unable to restock inventory or cover the essential expenses needed to keep Kinfolk Beauty Supply running. Kinfolk Beauty Supply is more than a retail store, they fulfill critical need in our community by specializing in affordable, high quality products for textured hair, making it an invaluable resource for many Black and Brown community members who have historically had limited local access to these products in Humboldt County. At the same time, Kinfolk proudly serves customers of all hair types, offering a wide selection of hair care and beauty products at affordable prices in a warm and welcoming environment for everyone.

Despite being a small business, Rochelle and Bill have always believed in giving back. Over the past two years of being in operation, Kinfolk Beauty Supply has proudly continued to sponsor many community events such as Friday Night Market, the Kinetic Sculpture Race, the Rutabaga Ball, Fairy Fest, and Pastels on the Plaza. They have also helped raise funds for victims of the Arcata Fire and generously contributed to numerous GoFundMe campaigns throughout Humboldt County.

This unexpected setback threatens not only their livelihood but also a business that fills a critical need within our community. Now, it's our turn to support them. Every donation, no matter the amount will help Rochelle and Bill replace the stolen funds, restock their shelves, pay critical operating expenses, and keep the doors of Kinfolk Beauty Supply open.
