My good friend Kim is a retired Canadian living in Mexico on a limited pension, in a little home in a little mountain town she loves.
On April 29th she suffered a devastating fall at home, resulting in a broken left hip, femur, heel, and wrist.
I've known Kim for 30 years, and I can attest to the fact that Kim's heart is as big as her love for her 7 cats and 2 dogs, all rescued animals. One of her cats had some sort of chemical poured on her that killed her kittens and required 40 stitches to remove the burns from her back; that dear cat requires medication every day to get her food digested.
A large portion of Kim's limited retirement pension goes towards the care and feeding of her beloved adopted fur family, and that's now complicated by the fact that she faces a long road to recovery, which has so far included a hip replacement, bone setting, wound care and dressings, medications, etc.
Kim has always been a pillar of support for her community, and now she needs us to help lift her up and get her back. She'd lately been dedicating her time each week to volunteer work teaching English to Grade 5 students in a local library but previously, Kim spent time as a member of the Rotary Club working on water projects in Honduras raising a significant sum of money to bring water to 3 different communities. Over the years, she's also volunteered as a 'flight angel', bringing dogs and cats from Mexico to their new homes in Canada.
Despite living with 2 autoimmune diseases that have affected her physically for the last 15 years, Kim always tries to help others. In fact, she's currently creating an online course for how people can live a good life with these diseases through lifestyle changes. I myself have lately been battling a new diagnosis with those two life-threatening conditions and Kim has been incredibly helpful with her vast knowledge and experience and she's made it her mission to continue to help others in the same way.
Your generous contribution will help Kim cover the costs of her medical expenses, which are substantial, placing a heavy burden on her limited resources.
Any amount you donate is helpful, and appreciated. Thank you for your kindness.
