Support Kim's Grandsons' Healing Journey

Hi, my name is Kim. I'm sharing my story of a recent situation where we have taken emergency custody of our twin grandsons. The circumstances were extremely unexpected and we were given no time to prepare for such a huge task. Our grandsons were born on June 3, 2024.

A tragic turn of events at the end of July resulted in one of my 7 week old grandsons receiving life saving treatment for traumatic brain injury. I am the next of kin/maternal grandmother and was appointed full-time caregiver by the State of Ohio to provide care and protection for the minor children in the absence of their mother and father.

I am a teacher for the Euclid City School district and have not worked since my grandson was discharged from the hospital on August 28, 2024. I am in unpaid leave status indefinitely. The loss of income has caused us to fall behind on our bills and daily necessities (food, gas, etc.) Given my grandsons medically fragile state along with the multiple appointments for surgeries, doctors appts, therapy, etc., I am unsure when returning to work will be feasible.

The physical, mental, emotional and financial toll this has had on our family is indescribable. Our goal is to focus on the health and well-being of our grandsons without the added stress of financial worries.
