Support Kim's Fight Against Thyroid Cancer

Kim was recently diagnosed with both Thyroid cancer and a brain tumor that was previously undiscovered. She will be having surgery on June 19th to remove the thyroid and the cancerous nodules that are on it. The brain tumor will be monitored while the thyroid issue is being taken care of and decisions about treatment will be made at that time. Due to health issues Kim has been experiencing related to the throid cancer it has made it difficult for her to continue to work. After surgery she will be unable to work while she recovers. As many of you who know her are aware, she is self employed, so there is no paid time off to cover her time away from working.

While there is health insurance through Randy's employment to cover a large part of the expenses of her surgery, there is still a large deductible and copay.

Also as many of you may know, Kim is also caregiver to her mother, who has stage 6 dementia and will need to go into respite care while Kim recovers from surgery. While Medicare will help with this for part of her recovery it will not cover the entire 3-4 weeks Kim needs to recover so that she can then move on to dealing with the issue of her other tumor.

Any funds that are raised will strictly be used to help pay the medical expenses that insurance does not cover first, and secondary help with respite care for Kim's mother.
