My soon to be wife, Kimi, and I just started a new chapter in our lives together. We bought our first home last November and are planning to get married this September. Excited for the future and ready to take on the challenges of homeownership. We knew there would be some financial strain as we settled into our new life, but nothing could have prepared us for the devastating news that followed. Kimi was recently diagnosed with a rare cancer called typical pulmonary carcinoid, or pulmonary neuroendocrine carcinoma. This diagnosis has completely turned our world upside down and brought a wave of uncertainty and fear into our lives. As we begin to navigate this difficult journey, we are facing mounting medical bills and the reality that Kimi will need to be out of work for a minimum of 3-4 weeks after her procedure to remove her lower right lung lobe. While we are doing everything we can to manage, the financial burden is overwhelming, especially so soon after buying our home.
