Support Kimberly Edelson's Senior Thesis Film RAYS

Hello Everyone!

My name is Kimberly Edelson and I am so excited to announce the production of my Senior Thesis film, Rays!

Rays is a science fiction drama that takes place hours before the sun is due to rise for the first time in 20 years. Our protagonist, David, wants nothing more than to block the sun out much to the dismay of his daughter, Samantha, whose drive to watch the sunrise forces David to acknowledge a pain he’d rather keep hidden.

About the Filmmaker:

I have been in love with filmmaking for as long as I can remember. I decided to study Film at Syracuse University in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. There, I was able to explore all aspects of filmmaking, meet amazing people, and develop the skills necessary to create powerful films. I plan to use all of my experiences over these past three years to create Rays.

During the Summer of 2023, I was hired as an Electrician for the wonderful professor, Soudabeh Moradian’s, feature film. I spent three weeks learning how to work under the direction of the Director of Photography, Alex Mendez, and saw first hand how having passion for a project harbors beautiful and creative results.

I just returned from a semester-long study abroad program at FAMU International in Prague, Czechia. There I studied 35mm filmmaking and was the cinematographer for my group's semester long short film project, Stardust.

I have been working on Rays for nearly a year since first developing the script in Fall of 2023. I also directed and was the cinematographer for a proof of concept film also titled Rays, which was selected to appear in the 2024 Indie Shorts Mag Film Festival.

Rays is a story that I hold very close to my heart. It is the mark of the start of what I dream to be a very long career in the film industry. I would appreciate any support you would like in the final steps towards making this story a tangible film.
