Support Kim Schmalbach's Critical Recovery
Donation protected
Hi there! On Friday, my grandma Kim Schmalbach went in for an endoscopy and came out with a perforated esophagus and stomach, causing mass infection and sepsis. Since then, she has had multiple surgeries, at Marian Regional Medical Center, and at Ronald Reagan UCLA. She is in the ICU at UCLA in critical condition, she could have many more surgeries ahead of her, and definitely a very long recovery. We are not sure what the road looks like ahead. But right now, all of her children and some of her grandchildren are staying at UCLA to be with her during this time, which is another very expensive cost on top of her medical bills and care. She could be here for days, weeks, or months. We don’t know what lies ahead. My grandma, or AhAh as we call her, is our rock. She relentlessly fights for every member of our family to have the best life they can. Since she was barely a teenager, she has taken care of her family, and is still the glue of all of us. She keeps us running. Every story we all have told in the waiting room, of course, has her in it. Whether she was there herself or giving us advice from herself, or all the Instagram Reels she sends us. She is probably the most involved grandma I’ve ever met. We all need her here. This year, she turned 70, and it will soon be her and my grandpa’s 50th wedding anniversary. My grandma has been extremely healthy her whole life, and this freak accident is taking a toll emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially on our family. Any prayers, wishes, love, good energy, and any donations would mean the entire world to our family. Thank you so, so much.
