Kim was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) December 23, 2020. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone multiple biopsies, a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and multiple smaller procedures all while working full-time as a Dental Hygienist. Her cancer is now Stage 4, and because of recent debilitating pain and a subsequent PET scan confirming metastatic spread to her bones and liver, she has made the decision to leave her 26-year career as a Hygienist and apply for disability. This GoFundMe has been organized to help the Pillischafske's financially bridge the disability "waiting period" and help supplement Kim's income so they can focus on her treatment.
