Kim’s Story
This spring, Kim’s life changed in an instant when she was rushed to the hospital after suffering multiple seizures. A week later, doctors diagnosed her with grade 2 oligodendroglioma—a rare brain tumor intertwined with healthy brain tissue, making surgical removal more complicated.

While the road ahead is uncertain, one thing is clear: Kim shouldn't face this fight alone. With your help, she can access the treatments, care, and support she desperately needs.

Who Kim Is
Kim is a vibrant, healthy 38-year-old filled with purpose, adventure, and love. She’s a devoted mom to Caroline, a journal editor at a nonprofit, and a volunteer editor for the Adirondack Forty-Sixers. A lover of language, Kim holds a master’s degree in linguistics; she brings warmth, humor, and enthusiasm to every room.

Her adventurous spirit is contagious—she thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2018 and has summited 96 of the Northeast’s 115 highest peaks. Whether on a trail or among friends, Kim’s presence is a bright light.

The Diagnosis
On Easter weekend 2025, a seemingly ordinary morning ended with an ambulance ride, multiple seizures, and days of uncertainty. Biopsy and genetic testing confirmed the grade 2 oligodendroglioma. Kim has begun treatment with the promising new drug Vorasidenib, which targets the tumor’s mutation. The goal is to shrink it enough for a safer and more successful surgery. If that doesn't work, chemotherapy and radiation are next.

How Life Has Changed
Kim can no longer drive and must take potent medications that leave her fatigued. Kim's support network is not local to Burlington but frequently and sometimes at a moment’s notice travels to take her to appointments for testing and treatment. These appointments include regular check-ins, MRIs, and lately attempts to address recurring seizures resulting in variations to her medications as she tries to get them under control.

How You Can Help
Donate: Every contribution—no matter how small—goes straight toward Kim’s treatment, medical bills, travel, and care costs.
Share: If giving isn’t possible, please share Kim’s story. Raising awareness can be just as powerful.

Kim never expected to ask for help, but your support ensures Kim can focus on healing, not paying for care.

On behalf of Kim, her family, and everyone who loves her: thank you for your generosity, kindness, and belief in her fight.

With gratitude,
Kim and her family
