Support Kim Fowler's Alzheimer's Care

Hello, Beautiful Friends of Kim,

It is no easy task to sit on the other side of this page and begin this note to the people who love Kim Fowler.

As you know, she is one of many in this world that is succumbing to the devastating disease, Alzheimer's. In the beginning stages of Alzheimer's, our sister was cared for by our heroic father. His never-ending patience and love provided Kim with the safest and most loving care during the earlier stages.

As her needs progressed, she was placed in The Barton House Memory Care in Nashville. We cannot say enough praise for the love the caregivers at Barton House have shown our sister and family. We know that Kim is loved, safe, and well cared for in this facility. Kim has been incredibly fortunate to be a part of the Barton House family. We know this home away from home has extended her quality of life that she would not receive anywhere else.

We have been able to fund her memory care services through her disability fund savings and Social Security payments. However, in two months, her disability savings will run out.

That is why Kim needs help now; we need to provide her with the care she requires. The other option is for her to rely on Medicaid, and that would mean transferring her out of the Barton House. Our family does not see this as an option for several reasons, and understanding Medicaid's route is the main reason; it simply is not safe for Kim, physically and spiritually.

We want to preserve Kim's sparkle for as long as possible and provide her with the safest and most loving home to live out the final chapters of her remarkable life. Kim is shining past the 18-month life expectancy that was given to her over a year ago, and we expect her to shine brightly for a bit longer! Our goal is to raise $60,000 to support another year of care at Barton House and possibly in-home care in the final stage of her disease.

Our family can't thank you enough for all of the love, visits, and deeply kind messages we have received. We feel the love from so many, and we will forever be changed by a deepening gratitude that has grown on this painful journey—much love and grace to all of the friends of Kim Fowler, our beloved sister.
