In one month, we have the opportunity to take Kilian to Panama City for stem cell treatment. The approval came on much shorter notice than we ever thought was possible but when you’re a parent to a child with complex medical needs, you sprint when a door opens.

Kilian has fought harder in his 2 years of life than most people ever will. So many of you supported us when he was hospitalized at Prov and during our time at Shirley Ryan in Chicago and when we were unsure if we’d ever be able to bring him home. Because of you, we were able to stay by his side and fight for our son without the added weight of financial stress. We will never forget that.

The treatment itself is $15,825, not including flights for the 3 of us, $5,000. This treatment comes with no guarantees but the potential benefits outweigh the risks for us. It could bring meaningful change, small improvements, or no visible changes at all. But if there’s even a chance it could give Kilian more strength, better vision, more control, or even the slightest step forward, we are willing to take it.
