Help Support Me & My Sister As We Face Friedreich’s Ataxia
Hi, my name is Kiersten Riggs, I’m 22, and my sister Lauren Riggs is 24. We both live with Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) — a rare, progressive, and life-shortening genetic disease that affects our ability to walk, speak, and live independently.
FA is taking away our mobility, our physical strength, and little by little, our ability to work. Right now, we’re doing everything we can to hold onto our independence — but we know there will come a time, sooner than we’d like, when we won’t be able to keep up with full-time jobs.
That’s why we’re starting this fundraiser:
To help cover the cost of living — rent, groceries, medical bills, and everyday expenses — as FA progresses and working becomes harder and eventually impossible.
This isn’t easy to ask. But living with a progressive disease means we constantly have to adapt — and sometimes, we need support to do that. Your donation will help give us the stability and peace of mind we need to face the unknown ahead.
It will help us with housing. It will help us afford the care and equipment we’ll need. And most importantly, it will give us time — time to rest when we need to, time to be together, and time to focus on living instead of just surviving.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, it truly means the world to us. Every donation helps us breathe easier and feel a little less alone.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of our journey.
With love and gratitude,
Kiersten & Lauren
