My name is Kiera Warren, and I am currently undergoing treatment for triple negative breast cancer. Every two weeks, I travel to Chicago for my treatments, which has become both physically and financially exhausting. The new treatment I am on requires visits on day 1 and day 8 of a 21-day cycle, and this round has been especially tough on me. In addition to the regular treatments, I am facing more tests, including a bone biopsy and MRI, to rule out metastasis. Recent complications related to my medication, KEYTRUDA, have led to even more monitoring and changes in my treatment plan.
Balancing all of this with working 40-50 hours a week has become nearly impossible. I am currently using FMLA, not short-term disability, because I want to keep working as long as I can. However, the travel expenses and the need to reduce my work hours are putting a strain on my finances. My children have also stepped up, working extra hours to help cover our living and travel costs, but it’s been hard on all of us.
I know that money is tight for everyone right now, and asking for help was truly a last resort. Any support you can offer will help ease the stress on me and my family, allowing us to focus on my health and recovery. Your prayers and encouragement mean the world to us. Thankfully, so far, all the tests that were expected to show signs of metastatic breast cancer have come back negative, and the complications have been attributed to my medication. Thank you for considering supporting us during this challenging time.
