“Haunted by visions of his family’s past, a young Black runaway crosses the South in search of peace, only to find that manhood begins where running ends.”
My name is Kieran Armstrong, and "The Boy With His Heart in His Hands" is my heartfelt, gripping and deeply personal narrative directorial debut. I wrote this story when I was still a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and it has since blossomed from a short piece into a full-fledged feature film.
In order to get that feature realized, I have spent the last year and a half working tirelessly to assemble an incredible proof-of-concept short film. This film is a young black man's odyssey towards self-discovery and an understanding of his own masculinity. It's a story pulled from so many of the beautiful, brilliant, and challenging facets of black manhood. And, just as critically, it's a story about forgiveness of both family and self.
I am asking my village for support in making this dream a reality. My incredibly gifted team of producers has already acquired $12,000 towards this film's production through executive production deals, and we are so close to the goal we need. Our film shoots November 14th-16th, 2025, and we have been preparing wholly to be ready for when that day comes.
If you can, please support this film. As a working cinematographer in Los Angeles, it is not lightly that I choose to step from behind the eyepiece; I believe Samson Foster's story is that important. And with your help, I know we can make something truly beautiful.
