support kiara's recovery after hit and run

Donation protected

hi, my name is kiara. thank you for being here. i’m reaching out to family, community, friends, and kind-hearted strangers to help me through this difficult moment.

on feb 19th, i was tboned from the passenger side of my car by another driver at a busy intersection. that driver immediately fled the scene. I tried to drive after the car to get their information and managed to take a picture of their license plate. after I did that, the two male driver and passengers of the vehicle hopped out of the car, confronted me, and then fled the scene again. I chose not to follow them for safety reasons and found the damages to the wheel and frame of the car so severe that my car is longer drivable. my insurance policy is not covering any damages / replacements.

im currently seeking immediate support for:

-covering temporary transportation to work/classes
-recovery expenses
-saving up for a new vehicle (re: inflation)
-registration and fees

im a student, full time community bodyworker and artist living in oakland california. in the spirit of vulnerability and community taking care of each other, I'm currently calling in support from my immediate and extended communities following a traumatic hit and run car accident that left my car completely totaled. i know the world is a lot right now, and i also know how exhausting it is to try to hold and figure out everything alone. i'm overwhelmed that many of us are facing various forms crises and struggle or are only a few degrees from being in it.

yet, i’m reminded by so many of my loved ones that its okay to ask for help when we need it. its okay to let other people help you.

i know that everything is figure-outable and that the biggest blessing from this experience is that I got to still walk away with my life in tact.

the emotional and physical toll and financial burden of insurance unwilling to assist or compensate replacing my car have been overwhelming so i'm holding both the grief and gratitude of this moment.

i was not wearing a seat belt during the accident and i'm incredibly grateful to have made it out of the incident sustaining minor whiplash and soft tissue injuries.

i'm really shaken up by this sudden loss, as my car has played a vital role in the work that i provide, my transportation to school, and has played a huge part of how i make life in the bay area work.

any support you can provide, whether through donations or sharing our story, will make a significant difference in this recovery process.

thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart,
may we all have the support and community needed to navigate through challenging times.

xx kiara
