My name is Skyla Sizemore. For the past week, my daughter has been extremely sick. Last Monday, my husband and I picked her up from school due to swelling in her legs and a severe rash on her legs. We took her to Children's in Knoxville, and she was diagnosed with IgA vasculitis. They sent her home with no medications and said the vasculitis would go away on its own. By Wednesday, her symptoms had become extremely worse. Her hands, arms, and legs were severely swollen to where she could not use them, and she was vomiting and having stomach pains.
We immediately rushed her to our local hospital in Claiborne County. They immediately gave her an IV with antibiotics, fluids, and Zofran. After a couple of hours there, they then released her with four medications and said she should feel better in a few days. If not, to go to the nearest Children's hospital. Her body rejected all of the medicines, and her symptoms kept on getting more severe.
We immediately rushed her to Children's Hospital in Johnson City, Niswonger. They immediately admitted her and started her on IV Zofran, fluids, steroids, and pain medications. The medical team here is working around the clock to try to help Kiana, as they have never seen this condition before nor are completely certain how to treat it. Thankfully, they have a doctor in Knoxville who has seen this disease before, and he is guiding them step by step on how to treat her. She has severe swelling in her head, hands, and legs.
As of right now, we are keeping faith that we find answers and someone can help my daughter. We appreciate any support, and most of all, we appreciate the prayers. I know the power in prayer is strong, and GOD is our healer.
