Support Khristine's Battle with Kidney Failure
Donation protected
Hi, my coworker, Maria and myself are creating this GoFundMe for one of our coworkers and friend, Khristine. She is the strongest and most selfless person we know and continues to show up day in and day out with a smile on her face. We are creating this in hopes of being able to relieve some of the stress and burden of her ongoing medical bills and also to spread awareness!
Down below is just a glimpse of her story and journey:
"For Donate Life Awareness, I am sharing my story with you.
In 2016, 3 months after getting married, thinking it was just food poisoning, I went to the doctor for an abdominal ultrasound. That’s when we found out that my kidneys had shrunk, and I had end stage renal disease caused by IgA Nephropathy and had to have emergency dialysis.
I am blessed to have three brothers, one of which said he would be willing to donate. He went through all the testing, and we were a match! I had my kidney transplant surgery on August 25, 2016.
After a year, I started going through rejection, where my body was harming the transplanted kidney. I did plasma aphaeresis and IVIG treatments to slow the rejection and save the kidney.
Unfortunately, the transplanted kidney gave up in December of 2024. Since then, I have begun doing home PD (peritoneal dialysis) and am active on the National transplant list to receive a kidney transplant!
The gift my brother was able to give to me says so much about our capacity for compassion and generosity, and I hope it sends an inspiring message to others about the importance of organ donation."
It's a shock to many who learn about her journey as she never complains about her circumstances. Despite doing dialysis daily, Khristine continues to work full-time. As some of you may know, she works in an Urgent Care setting and still provides the greatest of care to patients, while also fighting this battle. If you are able to, please visit https://ewebapps.ccf.org/livingdonorkidney/ and see if you're a match and save a life!
