Khoury's Top Surgery Recovery Expenses

Khoury's FTM Top Surgery Recovery Expenses Needed By June 14th, 2019.

The long awaited time for top surgery is here! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Khoury and I moved up to a welcoming Rochester, NY from a small southwestern town in OK, all because I have small titties. (See below, lol!)

Ha! Well, that’s part of the story! Back in my early 20’s (currently I’m in my 30’s), I would frequent the ONE gay bar near where I lived. Once during a drag show, I became confused when a normal looking guy walked out on stage and performed. “This space is for Queens!” I thought out loud, wondering where this dude’s makeup, wig, and dress was. It was that night that I learned Drag Kings exist, and that being transgender could go both ways (not only a male gender transitioning to female gender, but a female gender transitioning to male gender too!).

Having grown up a very feminine looking straight girl, my mind was blown with the above knowledge. “You mean, I can actually look like a cute gay boy in THIS lifetime!?” I exclaimed this to my bewildered friends. Right then, I knew I would transition from a female gender, to a male gender.

Since I can remember, I have always been a gay boy. From every dream I’ve ever had, to every video game character I played, to all the folks in the AOL chat rooms I role-played with (back when AOL was everyone's jam!)–I’ve always been a gay boy. I YouTube’d up a storm of information, and soon after, had my first testosterone injection (I’m making it sound way easier than it was, especially in OK T~T).

In high-school, I hated having small titties! My mom and sis would tease me and say my chest looked like fried eggs with the yolks broke! I am thankful for my small chest now though. Painfully binding for years (flattening my chest to make it appear more masculine by use of a compression binder-ladies, it's like a mammogram that lasts 8-12 hours), thankfully my chest has shrunk from hormone replacement therapy. Even so, I still do not feel comfortable wearing some of the masculine clothing that I would prefer (or of course, being shirtless at the beach) all because of my breast size.

I’ve always been an artist and caregiver at heart, and my job types have always been part time, making sure to have the ability to travel home on short notice to help care for my aging mother whenever needed. I also started a nonprofit that recovers food at a local public market–sorting thousands of pounds of fresh fruit and vegetable donations per day–to give to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and the like. It’s a very laborious job (over four years old now) and I have had trouble figuring out how to take time off for this major life-changing surgery (I have no family up here to help).

In short, I have NEVER had a job that afforded me sick time, vacation time, or qualified me for health insurance. I also found it difficult to find a surgeon to perform the type of surgery I’d like–since my chest is smaller, I'm candidate for a less invasive procedure that has minimal scaring. Top surgery just hasn’t been an option until now. After many consults across the states, I found one here in Rochester, NY who will perform my surgical preference! It’s already scheduled for the middle of June!

Having saved up what little I could, 100% of my operation costs are covered by my current insurance and savings; however, I have started this campaign to help raise money for additional costs pertaining to post procedure.

I really don’t want to push this surgery back anymore–I want to be able to enjoy it THIS SUMMER! I’m in my 30’s and not getting any younger! I sure hope you can help me enjoy the warm sunshine on my chest this year.

In the spirit of celebration and gratitude for the life my body has given me, I have chosen a boudoir photography shoot in efforts to raise money for my surgical recovery expenses. I wanted to highlight my features before chopping them off ;D Those who donate to this campaign ($20 or more) may receive a free print of their choice (4x6 or larger)!

$100 Pet Sitting Service (1 week)
$100 Miscellaneous (food, bribes, good books, etc.)

Doctor Recommended 4 Weeks
(Week 3 & Week 4) $600
$500 Lost Work Wages (I may return with restrictions depending)
$100 Miscellaneous (more food, more bribes, more good books, etc.)

INITIAL GOAL: Recovery Expenses Total: $1,855

SECOND ADDITIONAL GOAL: Revisions Savings $3,500-$5,000

GOALS EXPLAINED:

Work: I have four jobs, which the first three are paying: Educational assistant working with adults with developmental disabilities; photographer in a family portrait studio (mostly newborns and toddlers); host of an open-mic night at a local café; and director of a food-recovery operation. All these jobs are laborious and expose me to strong hugs, sneezes, and other problematic items-the medical professionals suggest I take two to four weeks off from work to prevent postsurgical complications.

Hotel: I share a home with six other adults, four cats, and one dog. Need I say more?

Revision Savings: There’s a 50% chance that surgical revisions will be needed with my elected procedure. These will NOT be covered by insurance.

Thank you again for checking this out and please share!
