This morning, November 14, 2025, my brother Khamla was detained by ICE on orders to be deported to Laos. He was the sole provider for his family. When May was diagnosed with Parkinson’s she had to retire officially from working and their dual income home went to a single income.

Our parents immigrated to the United States in 1979 and Khamla was only 2 years old when they were living in a Refugee camp in Thailand after the family escaped from Laos during the Vietnam War running away from communist. They were sponsored by St Nicks Catholic Church and did everything right. Khamla only knows the United States. In his teen years he found himself in trouble hanging with the wrong crowds and that has followed him unfortunately. He has been an upstanding person for the last 17 years focusing on his family and raising his boys.

Khamla did so much for his family and his kids , Mason and Toby - all he wanted to do was be the best Dad to them and keep them busy in wrestling and he spent his weekends teaching them life skills from cutting trees down or maintenance around the house. His focus has always been to be as present as he could and not just for his own kids but for his nieces and nephews as well. If you knew him or one of us, you definitely saw him showing support at a wrestling match or volleyball game. He was a present Grandfather to Alani and was always, always willing to help anyone that asked.

While we get things situated, May and the boys will be staying with my sister Xam.

We are in the process of fixing up their home so May and boys will have their own safe space back but on all of our limited incomes we are trying to raise money to get his mortgage on track and help with utility bills.

We are also asking for prayers that he is sent to Laos and NOT a detainment center. We are trying our hardest to track his whereabouts and he has been able to call us and we will try to update as we hear anything new.

Khamla has been able to call us periodically. He’s located at a center in Bowling Green, VA.

After speaking to him , we want to keep him here in the states for as long as possible to fight this. We are reaching out to lawyers on Monday and have been absolutely blessed with referrals of lawyers and the donations coming in. We are so thankful to everyone and knowing how much Khamla, May, Mason and Toby has impacted every individual willing to help.

We were able to share with him the outpouring of support he’s received from this gofundme and other avenues for donations, it has lifted him up momentarily and he expressed how it made him emotional thinking of all of us rallying behind him. We’ve been spending a lot of time with May and the boys trying to keep them busy and just giving them all our love and time , they are also so thankful to everyone out there.
