My name is Steph! I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my close friend, Khalil, who was recently detained by ICE and is currently being held at the Dodge County Detention Facility in Wisconsin. This happened suddenly, and he is now navigating a complex immigration process from inside detention, with limited access to the support and resources he needs.

He has his first immigration court date scheduled in about 10 days. This is a critical and time-sensitive window—what happens now, including whether he is able to secure proper legal representation and pursue bond, can directly impact whether he remains detained for an extended period or has a chance to continue his case outside.

Khalil originally came to the United States on a student visa and, like many individuals working to build a stable life, faced challenges that led to his current situation. Despite that, he has continued to move forward with resilience and do his best to create stability under difficult circumstances.

He is originally from Palestine, which adds additional legal and logistical complexity to his case and makes experienced legal guidance especially important.

Khalil is known by those around him as the most kind, respectful, and deeply genuine person—someone who values real connection, consistently shows up for others, and carries himself with quiet integrity. He takes a lot of pride in being intentional and having a meaningful, positive impact on everyone he crosses paths with. He's a gem of a person.

Right now, he is facing one of the most uncertain moments of his life—detained, limited in communication, and relying on outside support to access the help that he needs.

We are raising funds to ensure he has a fair chance to navigate this process with proper support.

Funds will go directly toward:

Immigration legal fees (typically ranging from $3,000–$10,000+, depending on representation and case needs)

Potential bond (if granted, often ranging from $1,500–$10,000+)

Basic communication and commissary costs while detained

Because Khalil is detained indefinitely at the moment, he is unable to work or manage essential expenses like rent and other bills, which continue during this time. A portion of funds may help maintain his basic financial stability.

Most importantly, he also serves as a major support system for his family in Palestine, and this situation has disrupted his ability to provide for them during an already challenging time.

Without timely legal support, individuals in situations like Khalil’s can remain detained for extended periods while navigating the system. Early access to experienced legal representation can make a meaningful difference in both the timeline and outcome of a case.
