Support Khai’s Battle Against Osteosarcoma Pediatric Cancer
Donation protected
As most of you know, my sister RitaAnne is a mother to three beautiful babies, whom I am a very proud and loving Auntie to. On September 30, our families worst nightmare became a reality. My sweet 9 year old nephew Khai was diagnosed with a rare very aggressive pediatric cancer: Osteosarcoma. It starts in the long bones of the leg and spreads rapidly. My sister RitaAnne has taken Khai to no less than 6 appts in the past 6 months and left with “theories” each time (growing pains etc). To say it’s frustrating to have lost that time for a diagnosis is an understatement. We know now that not only has the cancer spread through his entire femur bone but has spread to his lungs.
This is devastating on so many levels. Khai is a fun loving kind sweet boy. At 9 years old he is an avid skier, biker and a true nature loving child - this is what they’ve always done as a family which will now be on hold. I cannot say enough about my sister and her husband and the strength they have showed through this. We know that Khai will have to lose his leg to amputation in the upcoming months and undergo several very serious surgeries; including pulmonary surgery to remove the lung tumors. Khai has already begun his chemo treatments here in Colorado.
My sister and her husband Eric will be looking at a lot of expenses for treatment and travel expenses to be able to provide Khai with the highest level of care. Which will include care happening over the next year here in Colorado and Massachusetts. While also paying their mortgage and living expenses while Dad is not working to support Khai’s journey, etc. and providing care for his sisters. We are not accepting the “odds” of a full recovery, but this is a long hard road to recovery and remission.
We are a strong family and have all put on our warrior armour. Khai has two amazing sisters Maddison (11) and Ashlynn (8) they are all very close so this is a tough time for all. We are asking for prayers and support for our sweet lil man. He has too many things still left to do and accomplish. He has been so brave and even stated “I always pictured myself as a one legged skier” That’s right brave lil warrior❤️ Please continue to pray and send all your positive energy to Khai. I will continue to provide updates as our family maneuvers through this difficult time. I want them be able to focus on what is important. Khai’s treatment health and healing.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
