As some of you may know, a beloved Vietnamese-owned business in Lekwungen territory was broken into last week. The person who broke in broke their front door/window and stole their cashbox was as well.
The family who owns this business truly treats their clients like family. They are incredibly generous and kind. I have had the privilege of being a client of theirs since I moved to Victoria close to 4 years ago. COVID-19 has uniquely impacted small, locally-owned businesses. Experiencing theft and having to rebuild only adds to the difficulties that are faced by local businesses. I spoke with the family yesterday. They had not yet set up a GoFund Me and asked that I assist with it.
Additionally, in light of the recent rise in anti-Asian violence and hate, it is so important that we come together as a community in solidarity with folks who are experiencing this type of targeting. Everything helps! Thank you all!
