My name is Kevin, and I’ve spent 15 years serving in the military, including a tour in Iraq. After returning home, I was diagnosed with PTSD and have faced a series of health challenges, including a recent surgery for three hernias. I was born with a heart murmur, and in 1997, I experienced a spontaneous pneumothorax that caused my left lung to collapse by 15%. Despite these setbacks, I work full time—over 40 hours a week—but I’m still drowning in bills and loans that seem impossible to overcome.

Life has dealt me some tough blows. I’ve lost both my parents, all my grandparents, and three siblings. My childhood was marked by physical and mental abuse, and unfortunately, I also experienced mental abuse in all three of my marriages. These losses and hardships have taken a toll on my mental health, but I continue to push forward, hoping for brighter days.

The financial strain from medical bills, prescriptions, rent, and basic living expenses has become overwhelming. I’m also struggling to keep my car running and to put groceries in my refrigerator and cupboards. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own, but right now, I need help. To those who take interest in my story, I thank you deeply with all my heart. Growing up Catholic, I pray every day for some kind of help, and reaching out like this is not easy for me.
