Kevin Andrés Rodríguez Gil, my 26-year-old nephew, is currently facing a critical health crisis far from home. He traveled to Medellín, Colombia, to spend Christmas and New Year’s with family, but what started as a lingering discomfort quickly escalated into a serious emergency. Kevin was admitted to the ER and has been in intensive care for over a week, diagnosed with severe pancreatic necrosis. The doctors have made it clear that he cannot return to Charlotte until he has undergone surgery and intensive treatment to control the infection in his body. He remains under close medical supervision as they work to stabilize his condition and prepare him for the next steps in his recovery.
This process is expected to take up to four months, and during this time, Kevin’s mom is by his side in Medellín, supporting him every step of the way. Being far from home has added to the emotional and financial strain, as they face mounting medical bills, travel expenses, and daily living costs. The uncertainty and stress of this situation have been overwhelming for our family, but we are determined to do everything we can to help Kevin heal and return home safely.
We are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for support for Kevin and his mom during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation—no matter the amount—will help ease the burden and allow them to focus on what matters most: Kevin’s healing and recovery. If you’re unable to donate, we ask that you please share this message and keep Kevin and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. With gratitude, Edwin Gil
