My name is Kevin, and I’ve lived in Haleiwa for 26 years. Some of you may know me from country cycles and being a caption in the Haliewa boat harbor for the last 15 years. An overwhelming amount of people have reached out to me and I am so incredibly thankful for all of you.
I don’t usually ask for help, but times like this remind me how lucky I am to be part of a community that truly looks out for one another. Over the past few days, I’ve seen so many people come together—clearing debris, sharing water, food, supplies, and supporting each other in every way possible. It’s been incredibly inspiring.
I was unable to evacuate or move my trucks because I was in CA celebrating my father’s 80th birthday and returned to udder destruction. While I’m very grateful that my home is still standing, I’ve lost a lot of important things, including three vehicles. Right now, I don’t have a way to tow my boat to the harbor, which means I can’t work and provide for my family.
If you’re able to donate, any amount would truly help. My immediate needs are:
• Cleaning and restoring my home so it’s safe for my son
• Repairing my truck so I can get back to work
• Replacing tools to continue fixing my home and getting my boat back in shape
I appreciate any support more than I can put into words. Thank you so much for your kindness and for being such an amazing community.
