Support Kevin’s Continued Recovery Journey

On March 13th, our lives changed unexpectedly.

While playing basketball, Kevin was hit in the head with a basketball and shortly after suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that nearly took his life. The rupture also caused him to suffer a stroke. He underwent emergency brain surgery, and doctors had to remove the right side of his skull to relieve pressure and save his life.

As a result of the stroke, Kevin currently only has movement on the right side of his body and is now on the road to recovery.

Kevin is currently in a rehabilitation hospital where he is learning how to walk again, relearning how to use his left arm and hand, rebuilding his strength, and working daily toward regaining his independence. Watching him fight through this process has been both heartbreaking and inspiring but through it all, God has continued to show us His faithfulness.

Since that day, our family has spent countless weeks in hospitals, ICU stays, rehabilitation hospital, and navigating the emotional, physical, and financial challenges that come with a medical crisis of this magnitude.

Through every setback, God has remained faithful.

We have witnessed miracle after miracle throughout Kevin’s journey, and I give God all the glory for every milestone, every victory, and every door He has opened for our family during this season.

Just last week, we faced another unexpected setback when Kevin developed complications that caused him to run a high fever and he had to be rushed back to the hospital and placed in ICU due to concerns of a possible brain infection. By the grace of God, he pulled through that scare and returned back to rehabilitation to continue healing.

Although Kevin has made incredible progress, his journey is not over. He still has another major surgery ahead as doctors prepare for the next phase of his recovery.

Since the week of March 13th, I have been unable to work because I’ve been focused on caring for my son, advocating for his medical needs, traveling back and forth, and being present throughout his recovery journey.

During this difficult season, God has used so many people to bless our family with food, gas, hospital parking, prayers, and other unexpected needs and we are deeply grateful for every single act of kindness.

I recently moved into my apartment on the 15th of this month and am now working to rebuild financial stability while continuing to support my son through his healing journey. At this time, I am facing rent, utilities, household bills, transportation expenses, and other financial responsibilities while trying to transition back to work and get things situated for when Kevin comes home.

After much prayer, I’ve decided to humbly ask for help during this season.

This fundraiser is being shared privately and will not be posted publicly on social media. I am reaching out to a small group of trusted individuals, and if you feel led, please feel free to privately share this with someone you believe may also be willing to sow into Kevin’s recovery journey.

Above all, we ask for your continued prayers. We truly believe God is writing Kevin’s testimony, and we are trusting Him for complete healing, a successful upcoming surgery, and full restoration.
