My name is Kevin. I am a father, filmmaker, and the Executive Editor of the S.F. Bayview. I am currently fighting for my life in a trial for a self-defense homicide from 2016. The case was initially dismissed, but in 2019, I was recharged based on digital illustration that was later ruled inadmissible in court. For the past 6 years, I have been attending court dates with so much uncertainty, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming for both me and my family.

Throughout this ordeal, I have been fortunate to have the support of family, friends and community who helped me make bail, $250k, I am forever grateful. However, the ongoing legal battle has forced me to take out loans and pay back bills just to stay afloat. As a father first, filmmaker, and Executive Editor of the S.F. Bayview, I am not currently receiving a salary because my entire focus is on this life-and-death situation. The pressure and burden have not been lifted, and the financial strain continues to grow.
