My name is Ed, and I am the oldest in our family. My younger brother, Kevin, is a devoted husband to Rina and a loving father to six children: Stella (14), Emma (8), and his three adult step-children, Tiffany (who has special needs), Ashley, and Jeremy. He also has an adult son named Kevin (32) living in Florida. Our brother Kevin has always been the primary earner for his family, working hard at Southwest Airlines. Recently, he was on extended workman’s comp due to persistent back and hip issues, which led to surgery. After the operation, severe pain sent him to the emergency room, where doctors delivered a devastating diagnosis: Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer that has metastasized to his liver. None of us saw this coming, and the news has left our family blindsided and heartbroken.
As a retired US Army veteran, I have witnessed true courage, but I am in awe of the bravery Kevin is showing in the face of this dreadful diagnosis. His first concern was not for himself, but for Rina and the future security of his children. He wants nothing more than to ensure that this tragedy does not prevent his daughters from achieving their dreams. The suddenness of this illness has created immense uncertainty for their family, and we are rallying around Kevin and Rina so that he can focus on treatment and precious time with his loved ones, not financial worry.
All funds donated to this campaign will go directly toward medical costs not covered by insurance, critical support for transportation to appointments, and ensuring the family can cover their mortgage and other household expenses. Most importantly, we hope to secure higher education for Stella and Emma by helping to fund two dedicated education accounts, honoring Kevin’s wish for their successful futures. The need is immediate and will be long-term. Please help us surpass the goal set on this campaign. Every dollar truly helps this great family in unexpectedly desperate need. If you are unable to donate, please share this campaign widely, especially among the Southwest Airlines community, and send your prayers for strength, peace, and comfort to Kevin, Rina, and their family.
