Hi, my name is Maggie and I wanted to thank you for reading our family's story. My step dad, Kevin Cwanek, entered our lives in 2015 and made our family a whole since we have met him. He is a step dad to me, my younger brother (Gavin), and younger sister (Emily). He is also the most supportive, caring, and outstanding husband to my mom (Jennifer). Our entire family, along with all of Kevin's loved ones and friends, agree that he is the kindest, most loving person we have ever met. He is selfless and always gives his all. Unfortunately, Kevin has faced some major health struggles over the past several years. The first being his diagnosis with prostate cancer in 2015. He went into remission up until 2020, when he was then diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. This means that, unfortunately, his cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, spine, and ribs. This past May he was then diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer which he began chemotherapy treatment for. While undergoing this treatment, Kevin developed a very rare and life-threatening condition called sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS) which has placed him in the hospital for the past 5 weeks fighting for his life. Kevin continues to show us all what true strength, courage, and positivity looks like. With so many odds against him he always has a smile on his face ready to take on every single day and give it his all.

I am putting this Go Fund Me together in hopes that we can lighten the load of expenses that have come our way. Kevin has been out of work since May due to having a partial colectomy and chemo treatments and now being hospitalized for SOS/VOD. He has no return date at this time. This Go Fund Me page was not made in hopes to reach any specific set goal because we believe that any amount would help Kevin with any present and future financial hardships he is and will be faced with. Our hope with this fundraiser is that it allows Kevin to solely focus on his strength, positivity, and fight.
